Clarice Cliff 'BOWLING' ETRUSCAN JUG AND WASHBOWL C.1929

£1100.00

One of the rarest of all patterns and certainly as rare an Abstract design as you will ever find. 'Bowling' as it is known is known from no more than 6 examples to date, or certainly in the public domain. It is really is that rare. This is one of 2 colourways known and the only example on this shape. A large an impressive Etruscan shape jug and bowl that will date to 1929, a full and varying version of the pattern around the entire body of jug and bowl in bold colours. Condition - Please note there are 2 minor restorations, one to the bottom of the body on the jug in the yellow band, not to the base and will be a star crack to the side restored and other repair is to the side of the bowl (Hairline). However it displays superbly and the two minor repairs do not detract from what is a really genuinely rare example. They measures as follows, Bowl - 13" x 4.5" and the jug is 8" tall by 10" wide. Both carry early bizarre rubber stamp marks to the base.
