Clarice Cliff GREEN BRIDGEWATER 642 VASE C.1933

£1350.00

One of the best and one of the rarest Art Deco shape vases Clarice produced. Known from about 8 examples in total the 642 shape is classic Art Deco in form and this one is decorated with one of the rarest of landscape designs - The green colourway of Bridgewater. Superb decoration showing the whole of the design around the body in bright and bold colours. There has been an invisible restoration to a hairline to the side of the top rim otherwise the vase is in excellent condition. A truly rare piece that measures 6.25" in height and is 5" wide. It carries printed marks to the base and also a paper label from the Christies Barry Jones sale of Feb 2000. The pattern and the shape both date to 1933, or certainly all patterns so far on this shape have been 1933/34 patterns.
