Clarice Cliff FIRST PERIOD CROCUS LOTUS JUG C.1929

Clarice Cliff FIRST PERIOD CROCUS LOTUS JUG C.1929

SOLD

A fantastic first period early Crocus Lotus jug, one of only a few i have ever seen, plenty of Isis vases but maybe only 4 lotus jugs painted in this way. Huge bunchy Crocus in thick heavy brushtrokes. This decoration was only used for a short period of 1929 into 1930 and then was replaced by the standard Crocus we see, This would have been too expensive and labour intensive to produce. GUARANTEED to be free from damage or restoration it measures 30cm in height and carries an early rubber stamp mark to the base along with a green handwritten crocus mark. This is a good a piece of crocus as you will find.
