Della Robbia - Large Albarello form sgraffito vase C.1905

A very rare large Della Robbia vase of Albarello form dating to around 1895. Sgrafito decorated with a Tree of life design over the inscription 'Zafarano Di Liverpool' . It is signed to the base and artist initialled WW which is most likely William Warwick. A superb example and the only other similar i can find although not as good! is shown in full page on the inside cover of 'Della Robbia Pottery 1895-1906' by Peter Hyland and the vase is currently on display in the Williamson Art Gallery in Birkenhead. This vase is shown in the original 1896 catalogue as shape 13. It is a huge vase measuring 14.5" in height and is 13" at it's widest point. Condition - There have been a couple of paint flakes touched in to the top rim otherwise is in superb condition.
