William Moorcroft MASSIVE POMEGRANATE ON CELADON KANTHEROS SHAPE VESSEL C.1912

Image Zoom (11)

A fantastic Kantheros shape vessel in Pomegranate on a celadon ground. A rare colourway on a much rarer shape, i have only ever seen one other this huge size and scale and that was Spanish example. The decoration is of exceptional quality both to outside and inside with crisp colours and no runs. This would have been so hard to pot and fire that i can only imagine they ever made a handful. It measures 14" in height, is 10" wide and 10" deep and has invisible restoration to both handles, as you'd expect! It is fully signed to the base and is the best example of this pattern i have seen to date. The vase next to it in the first image is 4" tall.
